3 Page Endocuff

The EndoCuff has been designed to reduce the problems associated with looping, to improve tip control during extubation and to enhance visualisation of colonic mucosa.

The EndoCuff is disposable and simply slides over the tip of the colonoscope distal to the bending section. It does not interfere with normal colonoscope function. Each individual flexible arm is hinged at its base so that during anal intubation and forward motion they automatically retract into the EndoCuff casing to create a smooth low friction surface.

Now EndoCuff takes colonoscopy to a new level of detection with its innovative, intuitive and easy to use approach. The EndoCuff gently opens the colon for easy inspection. Its unique array of flexible arms gently maintains the tip of the instrument in the centre of the lumen, and everts the mucosal folds to allow dynamic inspection as they move back into their resting position.

EndoCuff provides better tip control so that the endoscopist is able to extubate without sudden slippage. The flexures can be inspected in greater detail and concertinaed tracts of sigmoid colon are opened as the arms gently separate the folds to provide a clear view of the mucosa behind them.

Maintaining tip position during EMR and polypectomy is essential to ensure the procedure is performed safely and quickly. The EndoCuff acts as a handbrake allowing optimisation of tip position during therapy and retrieval and helps to prevent movement as instruments are fed through the biopsy channel. EndoCuff brings better tip control and vision to colonoscopy.

Three diameters are available so that it can be used on most standard sized colonoscopes including paediatric instruments.

Improved Visualisation

During extubation the EndoCuff improves the physician’s ability to visualise and examine the mucosa in three unique and innovative ways:

  • The EndoCuff gently supports the tip of the instrument within the centre of the lumen providing an improved position for a panoramic view.

  • During withdrawal, the flexible arms reduce the risk of sudden slippage so the physician experiences better control and feedback enabling a more thorough examination to be performed.

  • The arms of the EndoCuff, open concertinaed bowel for inspection, everting large mucosal folds and providing clear views of mucosa previously difficult to visualise.

Improved Intubation

During intubation, the flexible arms slip into the body of the EndoCuff so that forward movement is not hindered. When retracting or straightening the instrument to negotiate looping, they extend and help to maintain tip position by the gentle grip created by the distal/longer arms.

For acute or complicated loops, suction of air from the bowel lumen draws the mucosa around the proximal/shorter projections and provides a firmer grip.

Missed Lesions

Colonoscopy has revolutionised the investigation and management of pathology within the large bowel. Its ability to identify and remove pre-cancerous lesions has made it the gold standard for colorectal cancer screening. Recently however, a number of studies have drawn attention to the danger of missed lesions and other papers have highlighted the shortcomings of colonoscopy in preventing the development of right side colon cancer. The need for polyp detection is now at an all-time high. For many, missed lesions are regarded as the “elephant in the endoscopy suite”

Improved Tip Control

During extubation the arms gently hold the instrument tip within the colonic lumen, reducing the risk of slippage and the need for re-intubation.

The EndoCuff’s ability to act as a “handbrake” during EMR and polypectomy helps the endoscopist to maintain a steady view during complicated procedures whilst instruments are fed through the biopsy channel.
